Concrete cores threaded with steel — embeds set for composite timber beams.
At UBC’s Gateway building, MJF formed the concrete elevator and stair cores — the spine the rest of the structure ties into. The scope called for accurate placement of structural steel embeds, including the connections that carry composite timber beams.
Core work is unforgiving: every embed has to be right before the pour. This is where layout discipline shows.
Have a concrete scope coming up?
Bring MJF in early and form it right. We bid structural and architectural formwork across the Lower Mainland.
